Four Legs are better than Two

When it comes to working out regularly, having a strong workout partner can make a huge difference. It is easy to cut your workout plans when it is just you. On long days when you are feeling tired and achy, it often takes more mental resolve to convince yourself to keep your workout plans than it does to convince yourself that you need a day off.

This is why a workout partner is so helpful. When you have plans with someone who is relying on you to keep your word, it becomes easier to keep up with your health and fitness goals. And there is no better partner than one who is unconditionally loyal, dependent on your every whim, and entirely happy to see you at all points of the day. That’s right: the best workout partner on the planet is your dog.

Workouts Get Ruff

Cardiovascular exercises, such as running, swimming, and walking are some of the best workouts that you can do when you want to lose weight. These types of exercise help stimulate your heart beat and improve your cardiovascular fitness. Walking is one of the most common exercise methods, and it can be very effective.

Some easy ways to add exercise to your day are to track your steps throughout your workday and take the stairs instead of the elevator. Aim for 10,000 steps every day for a healthy level of activity. This may take about 10 to 15 minutes of walking per day.

Your dog can be your greatest motivator when it comes to heading outside for a walk, so why not take advantage of that motivation and make your dog your walking buddy? Dogs really are the best workout buddy that you can ask for. No other workout partner will be waiting for you when you get home, pouting by the door until you grab your sneakers and the leash and then jumping up and down with excitement at the prospect of heading outside.

Of course, if you don’t have a dog, that is no reason to skip the workout. Try meeting up with your best friend or take a walk with your headphones and enjoy your favorite music or perhaps a great audiobook as you meet your step goals.

Keeping up with your workout goals after weight loss surgery will help you reach your ultimate weight loss goal. Having your dog at your side as you work towards that goal is a huge benefit.
